We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • resize to the size of your window, and display a readable text size whichever device you are using

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the known issues listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  • The homepage carousel is lacking a defined aria-labelled or aria-labelledby attribute (fails WCAG success criterion 4.1.2 (name, role, value));
  • The website footer contains non-accessible text that is not visible to screen readers (fails WCAG success criteria 4.1.2 (name, role, value) and 2.4.4 (link purpose (in context)));
  • Our theme settings for linked text results in an insufficient colour contrast for hyperlinks (fails WCAG success criterion WCAG 1.4.3 (contrast (minimum)).

We plan to fix these issues alongside an ongoing website audit and content update by Q4 2022. When we add new content, we will ensure all text, images, and design-related changes meet accessibility standards.

Content of intranets and extranets

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix the content of extranets and intranets – such as our ‘Sponsor Area’, accessible by login only – published before 23rd September 2019, until such websites undergo a substantial revision.

Pre-recorded audio and video

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix pre-recorded audio and video published before 23 September 2020.

PDFs and other documents

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they are not essential to providing our services. For example, we do not plan to fix the PDF or PPT files listed in our ‘Sponsor Area’, as these are not essential to providing the services of the rapidreservoir.org site.

Any new PDFs, PPTs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.
